While I will give them credit for friendly front desk staff and maintenance guys, a relatively clean room and bathroom, cold A/C, strong water pressure, and basic amenities, there were several issues that I feel should have been better for an almost $200 per night price. My personal opinion is that it would have been a better idea to start with the rooms since that is where the hotel guests spend most of their time. I was wrong the front desk clerk said they were redoing the public areas first. I knew beforehand that the hotel was undergoing renovations and I assumed that they had started on the rooms. We stayed in a ground floor room with a “kitchen”. My husband, son and his family stayed here this past weekend for a birthday celebration. Our mission is centered around revitalizing this property and cultivating this part of our local history. The prestigious resort attracted affluent tourists and historical figures from all around the world. Immediately, they knew its unique and rich landscape would be the perfect setting for what they referred to as "a resort like no other in its era." And so, Gulf Hills Hotel was born. It began in 1927 when the Branigar brothers, originally from Chicago, recognized an amazing stretch of property located on Fort Bayou that offered unparalleled natural beauty.
